So, holy shit I'm back from my mysterious birthday trip to an UNDISCLOSED LOCATION! I've been back since Sunday, but I wanted to wait so I could make a post which included photos just to lord it over you all that little bit more ;)

Where did I go? Read on to find out! )

And that's my summary of the first day, which was made of complete and utter awesome! The second day will have to wait until later as I'm supposed to be going to see X-Men: Origins at 3.30pm and I still haven't showered :/

Ordinarily, I don't enjoy living on a wildlife preserve for various types of water fowl. It's less lovely than you'd think. They shit everywhere and don't seem to ever learn that they cannot digest grass. Plus, when you're drunk, being hissed at by a large goose is actually quite terrifying.

But it's spring, and they've been nesting and having little baby birds, and though I don't usually get overexcited about things like this, oh my god, they're so cute! Everywhere you go on campus, there are little ducks and geese and swans (baby swans!) and animals of an unidentified birdy nature. The downside is they're quite territorial, but so long as you don't get too close, it's all good. Amusingly, one of the geese bit a Baroness last week after thinking she was after its young - ha!

Photomographs of the little baby animals! )

Right, so, this is my belated update on my drunken four day frolic in the beautiful city of Cork. Because, I'm not there anymore and I've been meaning to post some photos for ages. But I haven't. So now I am. Yup.

So, I thought they were a bit hazy because of the weather at the time, but it turns out there was a massive finger print on the camera lense... )

So that's Cork =D We also went out to Cobh and to Blarney Castle (I didn't kiss the stone and I was absolutely disgusted at the terrible condition of the castle), but my camera batteries died before I could get any pictures. Which also means there are no drunken photos - which is probably a good thing! Cork is a really great city, and I'd recommend it if you're ever in Ireland. I was surprised at how friendly everyone was and, god damnit, it was nice to be back in a place with proper pubs again!

I am back from Ireland, obviously. Generally unscathed, apart from a cold picked up somewhere along the way. Who knew that the human nose could produce so much snot? I've been meaning to make this post for several days, but I've been huddled in my bed, surrounded by tissues, watching Due South. But today, my friends, today is the day!

It was great to be home. I really do feel much better having been back, despite the cold. Of course, the journey back to York took eleven hours, which is an absolute bitch, but these are the sacrifices you make ;)

In fact, I've already arranged another trip back to Ireland, but this time I'm going to Cork for a weekend of heaving drinking and partying with some friends from my last University. Yay!

I have a 4500 word essay due tomorrow, which I have in no way started, so naturally I am catching up with LJ and watching Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story (why did they more or less invent a storyline instead of following the books?).

I'm sure we can all be proud of the fact that I have recovered from my rather impressive hangover. So, St. Patrick's Day...

Evidently, I had a fantastic time )

In essence, there were many drunken frolics and a good time was had by all those who bothered to turn up. Hurrah!

And now, the photos from that meme I posted the other day.

Pretty pictures under here )

York is the most beautiful place on the face of the planet. Seriously. I can't believe how much I love it already! Obviously, the trip was a good one. We really only had a day in York but we managed to fit in everything we needed to do. I went and checked out the archaeology building (so gorgeous!), then walked from town to the main campus just to see how long it actually took (quite a while, but there was a shorter way than the one we took, and the bus seemed fairly regular) and had a bit of a poke around Wentworth (the hall I'm hoping to stay in).

That all done we did a teeny, tiny bit of shopping (I bought some clothes from H&M and Devil May Cry for the PS2) before embarking on an historic pub crawl. Completely legitimate. We were in the tourist information office and there was a little booklet giving details on York's historic pubs and suggesting a route for a pub crawl. You have got to appreciate a town that has a drinking tour =D We didn't manage to make it to all the pubs on the list, but we gave it a damn good shot *g*

Some photos, oh yeah! )

And now all I have to do is catch up on all my e-mails and LJ. Easy!

My bedroom has essentially looked the same since we moved into this house in 1997/8. The main changes have been the addition of many, many bookshelves. I love my room - it's my nerdy teenager room, decorated by myself and my friends, but it's time for a change. I went into town yesterday and bought paint to transform it into something a bit brighter, and a bit less nerdy teenager. Of course, it'll still be covered in books and various crap no matter what colour it is, so who knows what it'll look like when it's done!

Anyway, I've taken a bunch of pics to remember the room by (oh, the nostalgia!) and decided to share them with you. You lucky things you :p

There are quite a few pictures, so it's probably not very dial-up friendly )
