Ordinarily, I don't enjoy living on a wildlife preserve for various types of water fowl. It's less lovely than you'd think. They shit everywhere and don't seem to ever learn that they cannot digest grass. Plus, when you're drunk, being hissed at by a large goose is actually quite terrifying.

But it's spring, and they've been nesting and having little baby birds, and though I don't usually get overexcited about things like this, oh my god, they're so cute! Everywhere you go on campus, there are little ducks and geese and swans (baby swans!) and animals of an unidentified birdy nature. The downside is they're quite territorial, but so long as you don't get too close, it's all good. Amusingly, one of the geese bit a Baroness last week after thinking she was after its young - ha!



It's all cute and fluffy! One of its parents eyed me warily and then, having decided I'd spent too long in the vicinity, made to chase me off.


I hate the geese, but the goslings are adorable. They're partly yellow!


I think these are baby moorhens, but I'm not sure. All I know is that they are absolutely bizarre looking. But also cute.


Baby swans are possibly the cutest things ever. Look at them, they're all fluffy and not at all black and awwww!


It's quite difficult to tell from this photo, but the white bird is sheltering little baby birds under her wing. So cute! I tried to get a better shot, but the darker bird kept running at me.
